Praslin & La Digue

Praslin, the second-largest island in Seychelles, is situated 45 kilometers northwest of Mahé. Originally known as Ile de Palme (Palm Island) in the mid-18th century, it was later renamed in 1768 to honor the French diplomat, the Duc de Praslin.

La Digue is the smallest of the three main islands of Seychelles with a size of just under 10 km2. It is located about 50 km northeast of Mahé and about 6 km east of Praslin. The 5 km long and 3 km wide island has a population of just 2,200.

The beach Anse Source d’Argent with its extraordinary granite rock formations is considered a dream beach and is regularly listed among the top 10 beaches worldwide.

Praslin is connected by two parallel roads running the length of the island. Another road crosses the south-central mountains, in which the pristine forest of the Vallée de Mai National Park is located.
